Pugs, Not Drugs, Kids.

Hello~

Ah springtime is definitely settling in here.
Or you know, going straight to summer.
I'm not sure Hawaii knows theres meant to be four seasons.

Today was actually still relatively chill, with some nice sun coming in through those everlasting clouds, so I popped down to the pool for forty-five minutes or so.
It would have been twenty times better if I had had this drink while I was down there, but sadly, I did not.
Still, it was pretty nice.

After my refreshing swim and little sit in the sun for my daily vitamin D, I went back to my suffocating cave of a room, and although I'm not going anywhere today, I still put together an outfit of the day.

                  (This is a truly atrocious picture and I don't know what happened, but moving on)

So the skirt is the same skirt I wore in my Shark Outfit from february.
It's just such a simple and sturdy skirt, I really adore it, and if I could, I would definitely buy more.

My shirt was a gift from my grandparents, an addition to my slowly growing pug shirt collection.
(The only other piece being a t-shirt my cousin sent me for christmas that I cut up a bit, which I will post at the bottom!)

It is from an absolutely awesome project that produces and sells shirts that support the artists that created the print.

On my feet, which you cannot see, I am wearing my Minho from SHINee socks. 

I just wanted you to know that.

Nature Republic Given By Nature Tea Tree Mask Sheet

Hello!

So my skin has been pretty dull and pre-breakout mode for a few days and I wanted to try something new to see if I could get it a bit better.

Delving in to my closet of wonders I poured out the contents of the bag of sheet masks I keep.
Rifling past the cherry blossom, and aqua fresh, and equally weirdly named masks, I pulled out this Tea Tree one.

This facial mask sheet keeps your skin smooth and flawless with tea tree extract.

Taking that in to consideration and also being reassured that it was FROM EARTH (thank you for clarifying that, NR. Never can be too sure these days) I decided to use it. 

When I opened it I was surprised at how much liquid was in it. 

This is the first Nature Republic mask I've used, the rest have been Missha, The Face Shop, and other various brands. 

The other thing I noticed is that this mask was very thin, which I really liked. 

It stuck to my face better and for longer than the thicker masks had. 

It was still very oversized but I guess they're just making sure it covers everything right?

(Damn my eyebrows look fine) 

I wouldn't use these right before you go out anywhere, because it does get in to your hair and makes it a little greasy, and you don't want to just wash it out because that would also be washing off the formula sinking in to your skin. 

When it did eventually start peeling, maybe 20 minutes later, I managed to leave it on for another 10 before finally taking it off. 

Now I never really feel like these do a whole lot for me, at least not until much later,  but as I sit here a few hours later my skin really does feel a bit refreshed and less just bad feeling.

My skin still feels a little greasy which is definitely not my favourite, and I'll probably properly wash my face soon.

All in all, surprisingly, this was one of my more favourable sheet masks.
In general I do it for a bit of fun, and don't expect a whole lot of gain aside from being a bit moisturised, but I am actually impressed with the difference this time.
My skin felt fresher, and the redness went down a little.

I will probably buy more of these next time I go to Nature Republic.

Berry Lemonade Recipe

hello~

This is just a quick post to share my new favourite drink seeing as we're going in to summer.

I wish I had taken more pictures as I was making it but I didn't, as usual.

It's super simple and as someone who absolutely loathes the effort it takes to drink enough water for my health, I find it's a lot easier to help the medicine go down with a spoonful of sugar...

You will need:

Berries of your choice, either frozen or fresh works fine. (I used strawberries and blueberries)
Sweetener (I used maple syrup, but I usually use agave syrup or stevia. Go ahead and use whatever fits your taste.)
Lemons or Lemon juice
Mint (Optional)
Ice

A blender/vitamix/anything that will blend those berries
A cup or something to drink from (I love mason jars)
A knife and chopping board
A sieve or tea strainer
A spoon
Straws (Optional)


To do:

(For a glass of berry lemonade)

In your blender/whatever (I used a handheld mixer thing and cup) add about 1/4th of a cup lemon juice, 1/4th of a cup of your chosen berries, and your sweetener to taste. (I used about two spoonfuls of maple syrup)

After its well blended, you're sure to have a kind of pulpy mix.
Take your sieve/tea strainer and positioning it above the glass, pour it through, occasionally scraping the strainer with your spoon to allow the liquid through.

Once your have your concentrated drink mix in the cup, fill the rest with water and add some ice.
You can add your mint leaves and lemon slices at this point too.

Voila! The perfect refreshing drink.
I plan on drinking a lot of these by the pool this summer!

Sunglasses; My Dangerous Addiction.

Hello again!

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted anything! 

This post is just a little bit of fun, seeing as I haven't done anything interesting within the last two weeks, so I thought I would share part of my sunglasses collection.

Read: Part. 

I actually own quite a few more pairs than I'm going to show, but they're either just plain simple pairs, or pairs I have yet to retrieve from various friend's houses thanks to my habit of putting them in someone else's bag when I'm not using them! 

Almost every time I go shopping I buy at least one new pair of sunglasses, if not more. 

They're just so versatile and can make looks complete. 

Not only that, but the mixture of my having extremely sun sensitive eyes, on top of living in Hawaii where sunglasses aren't just a fashion statement, but a necessity, it's easy to get caught in the wave of $5 sunnies in all kinds of colours and styles. 

Let's start shall we?

(Disclaimer: Oh lordy lordy lordy I should really work on my camera skills any angles shouldn't I. These are pretty awful.)

To be honest I don't even remember where I got these from. 

I've had them for at least two years, and I used them a lot more back when my style was a little more eclectic like this. 

I loved wearing them with a white shirt and a bright orange pair of shorts which I still have somewhere in my wardrobe. 

I got these from a local surf shop here for about $25. They're Crush which I think is also a local brand. 

I generally wore these when I was going off to the beach for the day and would wear them in to the water so the look wasn't as important, but still wanted a generally slim line and high UV protection pair. 

I got these for $5 from somewhere but I really can't remember where. I want to say Charlotte Russe but I don't know for sure. 

They aren't actually a bright orange, but a turtleshell colour, with turquoise ends. 

Again, these were another one of my summer go-to's. 

I actually bought these the other day at Charlotte Russe for about $6. 

I've yet to wear them out, but I'm super excited to. 

These are something I would wear more in the winter/colder seasons. 

I love pairing things like these with my all black or very monochrome outfits, for that little pop of detail. 

I got these at the same time as the ones above, and haven't worn them either.

I'm saving them for summer, because I aim to have a easy breezy almost spring like look this year. 

They're absolutely adorable and remind me of something a pin up girl might wear with her big flouncy red dress. 

These are actually pretty old but they have served me well!

You can see a few scratches, but I still like to wear these on a casual day out. 

They were given to me by a friend with a similar sunglasses addiction, right before I visited California for the first time. (Speaking of, I'm planning another visit in the near future! I can't wait to take pictures and post them up here ^^) 

These have the same rose-viney detail as the round pair above, but were $24 at Aldos. 

I wore these almost non-stop when I got them. I love how fancy it makes a simple black outfit look. 

Now these are actually one of my favourite pairs. 

They're a little bit mannish, but that's what I like about them. They kind of add an edge to my outfit. 

This is another older pair, as you can see from the scratches, which I got for $3 at a thrift store. 

I wore these a lot a few years ago too. They gave me a more sophisticated feel to my otherwise simple outfits. 

Ok lately I have been obsessed with the round glasses as you could see from my recent purchases. 

These were $5 from Forever 21.

I just think they're so odd that they add such an interesting aspect to so many outfits.

Whenever I feel like adding that little street style pop, I will wear a pair of my round frame glasses. 

This pair is a little warmer so it's good for more coloured outfits. 

These are pretty much the same as the ones above, but a little edgier. 

$15 at City Mill which is a really weird place to find sunglasses but hey. 

And I absolutely love the little arrow details on the side. 

I prefer darker lenses in general, mostly because people can't see my eyes and I have a tendency to zone out, but with dark lenses, they will never know!

I wear these with "colder" styled outfits. 

With less colour and more sharp lines. 

These next three are just silly ones that I have for fun. However I have worn them on several occasions! 

This lenseless pair was given to me as a christmas gift by one of my friends who has a matching pair. 

I don't think I've worn these anywhere aside from the house. 

I got these last summer when my cousin came to visit and we went a little nuts shopping. 

$5 from Forever 21. 

I wore these to the grocery store once, and actually got a girl around my age say as she passed me "Nice glasses."

However I'm not sure if she was making good-natured fun of them or actually insulting me... 

This is the last pair, something I bought for fun at Pricebusters for $3.50.

I wore these in our 4th of July parade last year. 

Look at that bow! So cute heheh.

The Face Shop and Don Quijote Trip.

Yesterday I went to The Face Shop and Don Quijote, so I thought I would make a short post of the things I got.

Here's the overview of everything.

It wasn't a lot of things yet they still managed to burn a hole in my pocket.

Let's start looking at them shall we.

First up is this Lovely Me:ex Makeup Base in 02 Violet from The Face Shop.

On the back it says "This makeup base provides a soft, refreshing, and radiant skin base with no sense of tightening." 
I put a bit on my hand in the store, and it was a very creamy light purple colour which blended out really nicely.
I've yet to use it with makeup but in the near future I will, and I'll provide more details and pictures of the actual product.

Next up are two nail polishes, also from The Face Shop.

The mint colour is simply Green 509, and the pink with sparkle is 05 Strawberry. (Or on the actual tab "straberry") 

Now I really like The Face Shop and Nature Republic nail polishes because they dry very quickly.

They also chip extremely easily, but if you cover it with a brush of clear nail polish, you're good to go. 

I tend to mess up nails that take anything more than two-three minutes to dry. 

They're very thin nail polishes so I suggest at least two, ideally three coats, topped with clear. 

Now the green colour is just your average polish, but the pink one is slightly thicker and has lots of little multicolour glitter bits, it's also translucent, so it's more of a top coat kind of thing. 

I have it on right now, over some white nails, and so far the only problem I've had with it is that its a little streaky. (Most likely my less-than-impressive nail polish skills.) 

It's super cute, but we'll see how it holds up. 

Next is this lip tint, also from The Face Shop, Lovely Me:ex Milky Tint in 02 Baby Peach. 

Besides the absolutely adorable packaging, it's small and convenient for your travel makeup bag.
There were two other colours in this line, one being a mango colour, and the other a bright pink.
I've been wanting a coral/peach/orange based lip tint for ages, and finally decided to just buy one. (Oh my aching wallet)

The colour came out great.

Despite the face that that is literally one of the worst pictures in existence, I assure you it's a very nice, light peachy colour, not too yellow, and it lasts for a long time.
I put it on my hand earlier today and it's still going strong, hours and hours later.
The slight shimmer effect has worn off but the colour is still there.

Again, from The Face Shop I got a Herb Day 365 Cleansing Foam in Acerola (aka cherry if you couldn't tell from the picture on the bottle...)

I recently bought an oil cleanser by Softymo, which is absolutely great, however, I don't like using oil products every day, which is why I went and bought this cleansing cream. 

As you can see against the light, the bottle isn't entirely full, but you really only need a small bit to lather over your entire face, so I would expect this to last about the same as any other face wash. 

I used this last night, and it smelled great, left my skin soft and clean, and was an overall good face cleaner. 

The one thing I would point out is that it wasn't that great at removing makeup, so I wouldn't use this for a clean makeup removal. (Which is where my oil cleanser comes in) 

The last things I got from The Face Shop were some samples.
God, I love how they always give samples.

Here's a picture of two of them, and the other thing was a little pouch of Absainte Eco-Therapy The Golden Ring Serum, made with bamboo sap and palm oil, which I forgot to take a close up of! 

The items pictured above are a set of Green Tea Waterfull products, the small packet being a serum, and the box containing the two bottles, one of toner and one of lotion. 

I have yet to use them but I'll let you know how they worked out. 

Now on to the Don Quijote things!

I bought a plain white NYX Retractable Eyeliner which I didn't take a close up of. 

I've been wanting one for a while, and I finally just bought one after complains on why a white eyeliner should cost anything near the almost five dollars it was.

I'm not a huge false eyelashes fan, (they tend to stick to my hooded eyes and make for a messy makeup experience) but I decided to try give them another try. 

The first ones I got were.. A nameless brand. 

They were just hanging kind of under all the Dolly Wink and more expensive brands, so I just picked out a couple and tossed them in my basket. 

They aren't the best quality, and they don't come with glue, but I just got them to play around with, so I'm not too fussed. 

The next ones were a bit more pricey. UBU Lash Stax Individual False Eyelashes.  

I've been kinda wanting to try out individual lashes for a while now, so I picked out a slightly better brand than my previous lashes.  

I love the look of placing them below your eyes for that big-eyed look, so I'll definitely be trying that out soon. 

And I think that's the end of my small haul.

Shark Attack Outfit Of The Day.

So a year ago I bought this shark shirt that I'd found in Forever21 because I love graphic shirts.
They can literally be paired with almost anything, from prints to plains, adding pizazz wherever they are.
Now to be strictly honest I bought it because ever since I had seen SHINee's Jonghyun wearing a shark print shirt by Givenchy in SHINee's One Fine Day I decided I needed one.

Although I adored it I really haven't worn it at all because I'm terrible when it comes to that. I have clothes already a few years old with tags and everything in my closet.
(Should probably get rid of them at some point. Maybe even a giveaway idea.)

Anyway I decided to share it because I was pretty pleased with the overall outcome of my outfit, especially after finding some round glasses coincidentally at a shop I popped in to this morning.

I've been looking for round glasses this style for quite a while, and I hadn't quite found the ones until I saw these on a rack and decided that even though they were $15, ($15 I definitely technically did not have) I had to own them.

As for the rest of my outfit, I just paired it with a short black skirt from some local shop, and a pair of black studded shoes.

My hair, as per usual, just a messy loose bun on top of my head.
I didn't bother with makeup because my mum was rushing me out there door, but if I had I definitely would have just gone for a bold liquid line and some blushing pink lips.

All in all, I looked like this.

Again, I was unfortunately just on a quick errand run, on which I picked up one of the greatest packages I have ever received, which was my Miyazaki's Spirited Away art book my dad ordered me for Christmas!

You will quickly learn that Miyazaki is basically my life.
One of the first movies I ever remember watching was Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away is my favourite movie ever, not to mention all the Totoro related items I have acquired over the years, or how I always wanted a black cat named Jiji, and I tried to insist that my parents changed Suki to Kiki.
That didn't work.
But regardless, Miyazaki and Ghibli's films are some of my favourite things in the world.
I'm really excited for his new movie that comes out this month!

Slightly Zico Inspired Outfit Of The Day.

Hello friends.

Today I thought I would share my outfit of the day, which was slightly (*cough* barely *cough*) inspired by this picture of Zico.

I actually put a bit of effort in to this, aka I was dressed before 2PM and I put makeup on.

I won't even bother apologising for my shit set up which consists of a sheet, two 3M wall hooks, and some hair ties.

I got these skeleton tights at Hot Topic a few weeks ago, and they even glow in the dark, how rad is that.

The black shirt is actually one of my favourites.
It's from Old Navy, which isn't known for its quality, but the feel and personal fit of it floats my boat quite nicely.
I had a white one before but a mysterious blue stain appeared on it.

My shoes (which you can barely see, so here's a picture from the website)

They're Vans Women's Sk8-Hi Platform Gold Studded, apparently. 

One of my favourite pairs of shoes, but unfortunately the rubber started to separate from the shoe quite quickly, which I fixed for the moment with some trusty superglue. 

And finally my hat! 

My precious Tablo hat. 

Which is.. Totally dusty..

Anyway, this is Tablo's signature hat which I got off kpopplus.com. 

Despite it's appearance I wear it often, especially in the summer as I burn easily. 

(Tablo is my personal hero so I'm quite proud of this hat) 

As for my makeup it looked more or less like this. 

(The more or less part coming from the fact that this was before I had decided I had a little too much eye-makeup on and stripped most of it back, and before I put some tinted lip balm on.) 

For my hair I just gave it a spritz with some homemade salt spray and let it dry before tousling everything up and braiding it loosely. 

Anyway! That was my outfit for today.

Sadly I'm not going anywhere except the pet-shop for some fish...

*sigh*

Chinatown

So last night I forced my reluctant family out to Chinatown to go see the Chinese New Year Festival, which turned out to be a massive bust, seeing as there was maybe five lost people wandering around the streets. 

Since we were already there I wanted to walk around and take some pictures.

I had been hoping to get lots of pictures of lanterns and lights and firecrackers, but the only thing that was lit up were these pretty hanging lanterns lining the roofs all along the streets.

We walked in to the marketplace where I got  picture of this cool little lion guy. 

I'll call him Steve.

There wasn't much else except a big statue of Lady Luck which I got one (blurry) picture of.

Leaving the market we kept walking down the street as I kept looking for anything possibly interesting to photograph, which is when I saw this awesome door. 

I love doors, especially Chinese style doors, so I quickly took about 50 pictures before I was satisfied. 

Moving on, we passed a few fruit and vegetable stands, and if there's anything I love more than door pictures, it's fresh produce pictures. 

I only managed to get one as I was hustled along to our final destination, dinner. 

After longingly gazing after the fruit as I briskly walked along, we got to Downbeat Diner, the chosen source for that night's sustenance. 

Across the street was this awesome tile mural on the wall as a little remembrance that we were in Hawaii. 

On the window was a cute little poster advertising the live music they sometimes have playing there.

The old-timey circus feel reminded me of a paper circus my grandmother bought for me in Paris years and years ago, which I still have most of the pieces for floating around. 

Finally we were inside and seated, with a nice woman with blonde and pink hair bringing us menus and water.

This place is a little rockabilly style diner surrounded by the high society bars and grill places in chinatown.

It's where you see all the colour on a Saturday night.

Another cool thing is they can make almost anything vegan or vegetarian if you ask. 

I ordered a teriyaki mushroom burger and some garlic fries. (Note to future self, buy gum beforehand..)

Unfortunately the food all kind of disappeared before I thought to take a picture. 

I know, dumb me.

After that we walked back to the car as the sun was setting and giving off a cool glow which is when I noticed the cute street lamps. 

Look at them.

Being cute and stuff.

Anyway after some persuasion, I got to go to Don Quijote, which for those of you who don't know, is a massive Japanese store chain.

I was there in particular to get Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil (which I'll do a review of in the future), but I also stopped in to Beauty Touch, our local kpop merch/cd, Drama, Skin product shop, just to stare because they didn't have Exo's Miracles In December which I totally meant to order months ago and just.. Never did. 

But that sums up my night in chinatown!
